Two figures kneel on a bank of\nflowers, wrapped in a single gold cloak. He cups her face; she has her eyes closed and her hand\nover his. It hangs in Vienna and it is the picture people mean when they say Klimt.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe detail worth knowing before you start: \u003cb\u003ethe two robes are decorated in deliberately\nopposite ways\u003c\/b\u003e. His half is hard-edged black, white and grey rectangles. Hers is soft\nconcentric circles, ovals and flower roundels in red, blue, violet and green. Below them, a\nmeadow of small flowers on green. His side is high contrast and goes together fast.\nHer side is all gold at the same brightness with the roundels scattered through it, so use the\nroundels as landmarks and fill between them.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003eThe gold background is the hard part and it is roughly a quarter of the picture.\u003c\/b\u003e It is\nnot flat: Klimt worked it with mottling and small scratches, so pieces do differ, just not much.\nSort it by how warm the gold is, from greenish bronze at the edges to a paler yellow near the\nfigures, and do it last.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003eThe flower meadow at the bottom is the fastest region\u003c\/b\u003e, dense with small saturated marks\non green, and worth doing early because it closes the bottom edge.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch3\u003eWhy the EuroGraphics build matters on a painting\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEuroGraphics are Canadian, based in Montreal, and they print on recycled board with\nvegetable-based inks over a blue-cored board, which is why a EuroGraphics piece has that\ndistinctive edge and holds a firm, positive fit.
