What you are looking at

A woman with long copper hair in a gold circlet, seated sideways on a high-backed wooden throne with celtic knotwork carved into its panels and dragon heads on the finials. She wears a black and gold gown with a deep crimson cloak falling across the seat and down the steps. A small tan and gold dragon lies across her lap with its wings folded, and she has one hand on its back. A second dragon, darker and longer, is wound around the base of the throne and up the step, watching. Heavy crimson curtains behind on the left, gold light through a window on the right, tiled floor below, and a dark tattoo running up her bare right leg.

What it is like to build

Three strong colours and they barely mix, so the sort is unusually clean. Crimson for the cloak and curtains, gold-tan for the dragons and the gown trim, and near-black for the throne and the gown itself.

Build the throne first. The carved back is the most structured thing in the picture, with a repeating knotwork pattern and hard vertical edges. Then the two dragons, which are the only warm tan in the frame. Then the crimson, working from the shoulder down. The dark background is the hard region, near-black with faint architectural detail, and it should be last.
