Clementoni - Anne Stokes Protector 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle

A grey wolf standing over a woman crouched on a moonlit rock, and the wolf is the one keeping watch. Anne Stokes, portrait format, and the whole picture is lit by a single cold source behind the pair.

What you are looking at

The wolf fills the upper left, side on, head turned out toward you, its winter coat painted in hundreds of separate silver and grey hairs. The woman kneels beside and slightly behind it in a black gown with a lace-up bodice and a fur-trimmed shoulder, one hand on the rock, her long hair falling in lilac and white. A wolf-paw tattoo on her upper arm and a laced cuff on her wrist.

They are on a bare outcrop. Behind them the sky is a deep blue-black with a full moon low and right, thin cloud drawn across it, and a suggestion of snowfield far below. The rock in the foreground is dark and wet-looking, and almost everything in the picture is one of three colours: silver-grey, black, or that blue.

What it is like to build

The wolf is the puzzle and it is genuinely hard. A photorealistic grey coat is thousands of fine hairs at the same scale in the same three tones, which is the same problem as a tabby cat's flank but at four times the area.

Work the boundaries first. The wolf's outline against the sky, the woman's black gown against the wolf's shoulder, the rock line at the bottom. Every one of those is a hard tonal edge. Then the face and the eyes, which are the only warm colour in the frame. Sort the fur by direction rather than by tone, because the coat lies in tracts that all run the same way within a region, and that is more useful than trying to tell one grey from another. The night sky is the last job and it goes in by shape.

Why Clementoni

Italian, and this is a licensed Anne Stokes Collection title. The box confirms 50 x 70 cm portrait with a poster included. Dark fantasy is a demanding print: if the shadow detail blocks up, the wolf becomes a silhouette and the picture stops being buildable at all.

A little context

Anne Stokes is one of a handful of artists who sell a puzzle on the name alone, and fantasy buyers tend to collect an artist rather than a subject. We also stock her Friends Forever, the dragon and the throne, which is a considerably easier build than this one if you are choosing between them. Derived from multiple public data sources across retail, search and community platforms, refreshed 31 August 2026.

Stock is real and it is in Sydney. Free shipping Australia wide over $150, and free same-day delivery inside 6 km of North Bondi with no minimum.
