A grand old library rendered in full neon rainbow, from Clementoni's ColorBoom range. Portrait format, 50 x 70 cm, and it is one of the most striking finished pieces in the shop.
A classical library interior seen down its length: a coffered barrel-vaulted ceiling, a great arch across the middle, fluted columns with carved capitals down both sides, and tiers of bookshelves running away into the distance. A wrought iron spiral staircase in the centre distance climbing to a gallery. A chequerboard tiled floor running toward you in perspective.
And all of it is colour. The image has been treated so the architecture runs through a full spectrum, magenta and hot pink on the left columns into orange, yellow, acid green, cyan and deep blue on the right, with the floor tiles picking up the same run. The bookshelves stay comparatively dark, which is what stops the picture dissolving entirely.
Do not sort by colour. Sort by architecture. That is the counter-intuitive thing about ColorBoom images: colour is the most visible property and the least useful one, because the gradient is smooth and continuous, so two pieces of the same pink can be a long way apart.
What is reliable is structure. The chequerboard floor is the single best feature in the puzzle: it is a hard geometric grid running in perspective, so a floor piece can be placed by the size and angle of its squares. Build the floor, then the columns, which are vertical fluted bands, then the arch and the ceiling coffers, which are a repeating geometric pattern. The spiral staircase is unique and goes in early.
The bookshelves are the hard part, dark and low contrast with the least colour information, and they are the right thing to leave until the architecture has boxed them in. A poster of the finished image is included, and on this one you will use it.
Italian, and the ColorBoom range is built entirely on their printing: an image that is one continuous spectrum only works if the steps between adjacent tones survive on to board. If the colour banded or drifted, the picture would fall apart. Poster included, and the box confirms 50 x 70 cm finished.

Colour-gradient puzzles are a distinct kind of difficulty, different again from a repeating pattern or a plain sky, and they are one of the pillars we go deep on. This one is unusual in being both hard and genuinely decorative: it finishes as something you would frame, which most difficult puzzles do not. Portrait format also hangs where a landscape will not, though it does mean measuring your board first. Derived from multiple public data sources across retail, search and community platforms, refreshed 31 August 2026.
