Clementoni - Fuji Garden 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle

A Japanese garden in spring with Mount Fuji snow-capped behind it, painted in saturated storybook colour rather than muted realism. It is a bright, generous, forgiving puzzle and a good one to give somebody who is not sure they like jigsaws.

What you are looking at

A still green pond running across the middle of the picture with white stepping stones set in a curve through it and water lilies on the surface. A single white swan on the left. What it is like to build

The colour separation does most of the work for you. Red bridge, red pavilion, blue sky, white mountain, green water, and then a lot of flowers, and almost none of those categories can be confused with each other.

Build Fuji and the sky early. Unusually, the sky here is genuinely easy: it is a small proportion of the picture and it is one clean blue. Then the bridge and the pavilion, the two red structures. Then the stepping stones, which are the only white objects in the water. The flower beds are the long part, several hundred small blooms at the same scale along both banks, and the way in is to separate by colour first and then work outward from the water's edge you have already built.
