Leonardo's Last Supper, painted on a refectory wall in Milan between about 1495 and 1498. From Clementoni's Museum Collection, and it is a genuinely instructive thing to build.
The long table across the width of the picture, Christ at the centre with his hands open on the cloth, and the twelve apostles grouped in four clusters of three, each cluster reacting differently to what he has just said. Behind, a coffered ceiling in receding perspective, six tapestries down the side walls, and three windows at the back opening onto a pale blue Lombard landscape.
Above the scene, the painted lunettes with their garlands of fruit and foliage and the coats of arms. The paint itself is famously damaged: Leonardo worked in tempera on dry plaster rather than true fresco, so it began deteriorating within his lifetime, and what you are looking at carries five centuries of loss and restoration in it.
The perspective is your best tool and almost nobody uses it. Every line in the architecture, the ceiling coffers, the tapestry tops, the table edge, converges on a single vanishing point behind Christ's head. So an architectural piece can be placed by the angle of its lines, which is more information than the colour will ever give you.
Build the three windows first, since they are the only bright area. Then the ceiling grid. Then work the apostles cluster by cluster, because each group has its own colour scheme: the reds and blues are distributed deliberately across the four groups. The lower wall and the damaged, muddied areas are the hard region, low contrast and a narrow brown range, and they go in last.
Italian, Museum Collection, and the box confirms 70 x 50 cm with a poster included. On a work this damaged, colour fidelity is the whole proposition: a reproduction that over-corrects the losses is a different painting, and a print that flattens them makes the puzzle unbuildable.

Building an old master is the closest most people ever come to looking at one properly. You end up examining every square centimetre, which is more attention than most gallery visitors manage in a lifetime. If you like this, the Museum Collection also runs to Caravaggio, Munch, Hokusai and Van Gogh, and we hold several.
