Clementoni - The Greenhouse Library 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle

A grand library that has been let go, with the jungle moving in and flamingos standing about in it as though they have always lived there. Two ideas that should not work together, and the reason to build it.

What you are looking at

A high-ceilinged room with tall arched windows and a round clock above the central one, walls of dark timber bookshelves still full of books, and a worn red patterned carpet. A tufted gold armchair on the right with a deep red throw over its arm, a small round marble table with a tea service, a pedestal with a bust on it, and a domed birdcage hanging on the left.

And then the plants. Monstera, banana and palm leaves reaching across the windows, ferns and climbers up the shelves, potted specimens crowding the floor. Three flamingos: one at the left picking through the carpet, one standing by the armchair, one on the right. Two scarlet macaws perched on the shelves and the pedestal, butterflies through the middle, and a cat curled asleep among the books stacked on the floor.

What it is like to build

Three material families, and the sort is unusually clean. Architecture and furniture in dark browns and gold. Foliage in a dozen greens. Birds in pink and scarlet, which appear nowhere else.

Build the windows and the arches first, since they are the strongest geometry and they carry the only bright light in the picture. Then the flamingos and macaws, which are the easiest pieces in the box. Then the carpet, a hard-edged red rectangle with a repeating pattern. The bookshelves and the massed foliage are the two long jobs, and both go in by elimination once the frame is solid.
