Cobble Hill - Christmas Flower Shop 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle

What you are looking at

A mint green shopfront under a string of warm bulbs, with COBBLE HILL FLOWER SHOP hand lettered in gold across the fascia. Garlands and red ribbon bows over both windows and around the central door. The left window holds potted poinsettias and white blooms on tiered shelves. The right window is a wall of decorated Christmas trees, baubles, gold bells, watering cans and enamel buckets of amaryllis. A couple stand at the left, the woman in a red coat and hat with her arms full, the man in grey choosing something. What it is like to build

The architecture is the skeleton and you should build it first. The mint green frame, the fascia board, the door and the window mullions are the only straight lines in the picture and they divide the whole image into five panels. Get them down and every remaining piece belongs in one of five places rather than in one of a thousand.

Then the two windows separately, because they are different problems. The left window is pale, sparse and easy. The right window is a dense field of dark green foliage with small bright ornaments in it, and the only way through is to hunt the ornaments: a gold bell, a red bauble, a candle flame. Place every ornament you can find, then fill the green between them.

Why the Cobble Hill cut is different

Cobble Hill are Canadian and use a random cut, so pieces are irregular and do not sit in a grid. On the wall of dark foliage on the right that is what makes the difference, because once every visible ornament is placed you have several dozen pieces of near-identical green and shape is the only thing left to go on. Linen print texture on the board. A random cut will not count out into neat rows, so do not audit the box before you begin.
