Cobble Hill - Christmas On The Farm 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle

What you are looking at

What it is like to build

The truck is the anchor and it is a good one. A large mass of saturated red with hard panel edges and chrome trim, sitting in the middle of a picture that is otherwise white, brown and green. Build it, then the barn, which is the second red object, then the dogs.

The two hard areas are the snow field and the winter woods. The snow is not flat white, it has grass showing through and tyre tracks across it, so sort by how much brown is showing. The trees along the top are a grey-green haze with falling snow over them and almost no internal detail, which makes them the right thing to leave until the frame has closed in.

Why the Cobble Hill cut is different

Cobble Hill are Canadian and cut a random cut rather than a grid: the pieces do not sit in rows, the shapes are irregular, and no two are alike. On the snow and on the misty tree line, where colour has stopped telling you anything, shape is the signal that remains. The board carries a linen print texture. One thing worth knowing, a random cut does not count out into tidy rows, so do not try to audit the box before you start.
