Six separate garden paintings hung in a grid on a whitewashed plank wall, each pinned up with a little clip. That structure is a gift to a builder: it turns one 1000 piece puzzle into six small ones with hard frames around them.
Top row: a cottage garden with washing on the line, terracotta pots, a wheelbarrow and dense mixed planting. A wildflower meadow with a long trestle table laid for a party and hens in the grass. An orchard in blossom behind a white picket fence with a birdbox on a post.
Bottom row: a blue-doored shed at the end of a lawn with beds of echinacea and daisies in front of it. A green and cream vintage caravan under a striped awning parked in a meadow, with a pheasant and a small tent. A Victorian greenhouse with staging and climbers, framed by hollyhocks, ladybirds and butterflies. Everything is painted loose and pale, in a stippled watercolour style, on cream mounts against grey-white boards.
Build the six frames first and you have effectively made six small puzzles. The whitewashed board between the pictures is the only hard-edged neutral in the image, and the cream mounts are a clean pale border around each scene. Get that lattice down and every other piece belongs inside one panel.
Then take a panel at a time. Each has its own dominant colour: the caravan is green and cream, the orchard is white blossom, the meadow is yellow. The difficulty is the style, not the composition. Stippled watercolour has no hard lines anywhere, so within a panel you are matching texture and tone rather than edges. Small panels make that manageable in a way a full-size painting in this style would not be.
Cobble Hill are Canadian and cut a random cut: irregular shapes, no grid, no two the same. On soft stippled painting where the picture stops giving you edges, shape is what remains. Linen print texture and a poster of the finished image is included. A random cut does not count out neatly, so skip the piece count.

Multi-panel compositions are quietly one of the best formats in the category and they are underused. A grid of small pictures gives you the satisfaction of finishing something every twenty minutes, which is exactly what a single large scene fails to do. Good recommendation for somebody who loses momentum halfway. Derived from multiple public data sources across retail, search and community platforms, refreshed 31 August 2026.
