Six Adirondack chairs in six colours lined up on white sand, facing a turquoise sea. Nobody is in them. The whole picture is one simple idea executed cleanly, and it is a very different build from a busy scene.

What you are looking at

Left to right along the bottom third: a red chair, a yellow one, a green one, a lilac one, a pink one and a blue one, all the same broad-armed slatted design, casting soft shadows on white sand. A coconut palm leans in from the top left with its fronds spread across a third of the sky. Behind the chairs, a band of pale turquoise shallows, then deeper blue, then a low white cloud bank sitting on the horizon, and above that a clear sky graduating from pale at the horizon to deep blue at the top. A tiny green island on the horizon on the left. Sea grass in the sand at the bottom left.

What it is like to build

The chairs are ten minutes and the rest of it is the puzzle. Each chair is a single saturated colour that appears nowhere else, with hard slatted edges, so they sort and build almost instantly.

Then you are looking at a picture that is roughly two thirds sky and sea. Both are smooth gradients with almost no feature. Lay the sky pieces out in tonal order from pale to deep before placing any, and do the same for the water, which runs from near-white at the sand through turquoise to navy at the horizon. The palm fronds are the only detail up there, so place them early as landmarks. The sand is last and goes in by shape alone.

Why the Cobble Hill cut is different

Cobble Hill are Canadian and cut a random cut: irregular shapes, no grid, no two the same. On a picture that is mostly graded sky and water, that is not a nicety, it is the only signal left once tone has stopped separating things. Linen print texture and a poster is included. A random cut will not count out neatly, so skip the piece count.

A little context

A simple picture is usually a hard puzzle, and it is worth saying so before somebody buys this as an easy one. Detail is what makes a jigsaw tractable; empty space is what makes it difficult. If you want the beach without the fight, pick a harbour with boats in it instead. Derived from multiple public data sources across retail, search and community platforms, refreshed 31 August 2026.
