Gibsons - Crafters Paradise 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle

The inside of a craft shop on a busy Saturday, painted by Tony Ryan, with about forty people in it and roughly a thousand things on the shelves. Dense, bright and genuinely forgiving to build.

What you are looking at

A long shop interior on a pale wood floor, looking toward the back. Down the left, a fabric counter where two women are unrolling a length of green and gold cloth, with bolts stacked behind them, a dressmaker's dummy in a pink shawl, and jars of buttons and reels of ribbon on the table in front.

Down the right, floor-to-ceiling shelving of paints, brushes, pens and craft kits with prices on shelf edges, and a stand of artificial flowers. In the middle, baskets of wool in every colour, racks of thread, spools of ribbon, and bunting strung overhead. At the back, a workshop area under two paper globe lampshades where half a dozen people sit at tables making things.

The customers are the picture's real subject: a woman in a wheelchair choosing thread with a girl beside her, a boy in a red jacket carrying a basket, a girl in denim reaching for flowers, an older couple, a woman in a green coat with a shopping bag, a shop assistant in an apron. It is a deliberately mixed crowd and it is drawn with care.

What it is like to build

Sort by material, not by region. There are five families here and they barely overlap: wool, which is soft and matte; fabric, which has fold and sheen; the paint and pen shelves, which are hard grids of small saturated blocks; the people; and the pale wood floor.

Build the shelving first. The right-hand wall is a strong horizontal grid and it fixes a third of the picture immediately. Then the fabric counter. The wool baskets are the most enjoyable region and the floor is the only hard one, being a large expanse of pale boards with almost no feature. Leave it to the end.

Why the Gibsons build matters

Gibsons have been British since 1919 and make their 1000 piece puzzles in the UK and Europe on 100% recycled board. On a shop interior where half the pleasure is reading the packaging on the shelves, print resolution is doing as much as the cut. Plastic-free, tab-sealed box.

A little context

Shop interiors are one of the most reliable formats in the category and the reason is structural: shelving gives the picture a grid, and a grid is the single most useful thing a puzzle can hand you. It is why a busy shop is usually an easier build than an empty landscape. Derived from multiple public data sources across retail, search and community platforms, refreshed 31 August 2026.
