Which Wasgij is this

In an Original you build the scene from one character's point of view, which appears nowhere on the packaging. In a Mystery you build what happens next. In a Destiny you build the same place at another time. The instruction here is explicit: puzzle what the granny sees, and she is the woman on the side of the box in the blue coat and cat-eye sunglasses, mid-shriek.

What is on the box

A Mediterranean quayside in high summer. A man in a captain's cap holding a sign for SPIRO'S LUXURY CATAMARAN CRUISES, pointing the wrong way. A queue of holidaymakers along the harbour wall: a woman under a rainbow umbrella, a man in braces and rolled trousers, a fisherman on a bollard with a rod, a woman clutching a small dog, and someone already in the water. Crates of fish, a lobster pot, an octopus escaping over the edge, gulls stealing an ice cream, a crab on the stones, and a starfish and fish visible in the clear water below.

Behind, the town: pastel houses stacked up the hillside in cream, ochre and terracotta, a clock tower, a stone bridge, a church, a sailing yacht out on the bay and an airliner overhead.

What it is like to build

Sort by colour family and by line, because you have no reference for the solved picture. Skin tones, harbour stone, the strong blues and turquoises of the water, and the block colours of the clothing. Wasgij art is heavy black outline over flat fill, so any piece carrying a line is worth several that do not.

The harbour wall is your best single feature, a hard horizontal band of pale stone running most of the width. Build the border, then that wall, and you have split the picture into town above and water below. Expect longer than a standard 1000 and a better payoff.
