What you are looking at

The rabbit sits in a blue-rimmed oval cameo in the centre, grey and softly shaded, wearing a floral top hat and holding a decorated teacup in one white-gloved paw. Behind him, inside the oval, more flowers.

Outside the frame, the border is packed edge to edge in flat bright colour with everything outlined in fine black: peonies, anemones and daisies in pink, purple, orange and teal; whole carrots and carrot tops; a large pocket watch top right with its hands wandering; a DRINK ME bottle on a chain; a decorated macaron; a pair of white gloves with a red heart on the cuff; a rolled scroll tied with green cord and a red wax seal; a butterfly; and two more scrolled ribbon banners carrying the lettering. What it is like to build

Tattoo flash is the friendliest style there is for a puzzle. Every element has a hard black outline and a flat fill, so there are no gradients and almost every piece carries either a line or a boundary you can match.

Build the oval frame first. It is a hard blue ring and it separates the soft grey rabbit inside from the saturated collage outside, which is the single most useful division in the picture. Then the banners, since the lettering pieces are individually readable. Then work object by object around the border. The rabbit himself is the hardest part, because he is the only thing in the picture rendered in soft grey tone rather than flat colour, and he should be last.

Why the Ravensburger cut matters here

Made in Germany since 1891. Flat solid ink is precisely where a mediocre cut betrays you, because large areas of one colour leave you relying entirely on fit. No two pieces in a 1000 piece share a shape. The linen-textured, low-glare finish also does more on flat colour than on a photograph, since solid ink is what shines under a lamp.
