Wasgij - Destiny 24: Business As Usual 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle

The picture on the box is not the puzzle, and in a Destiny you are building the future. That is the specific twist of this strand, and it is different from the other Wasgij ranges.

Which Wasgij is this

The strands work like this. In a Mystery, you build what happens next. In an Original, you build what a character in the scene can see. In a Destiny, you build the same scene at a different point in time. The box shows you a modern office; the puzzle is that office in another era, and you have to reason your way there from the clues.

What is on the box

A boardroom mid-meeting, and it is not going well. Eight people around a long table with laptops, coffee cups and a plate of pastries. A woman in a black suit standing at the head of the table presenting, a flip chart beside her with a red line going emphatically downwards, and a screen on the back wall listing management objectives. One man asleep with his head back, another checking his phone under the table, a woman in a spotted blouse looking exasperated. Portraits on the wall, a potted palm in the corner, a city skyline through the windows on the left, and mice running along the floor and up the table leg where nobody has noticed them.

What it is like to build

You are sorting blind, so sort hard. No reference for the solved image means colour and texture families are everything: skin tones, the greys and navies of suiting, the wood of the table, the window light. Wasgij art is drawn in heavy black outline over flat fill, so a piece carrying a line is worth several that do not.

Build the border properly and do not skip it. On a normal puzzle the frame is a convenience. Here it is one of the few pieces of structure you can be certain about. Expect longer than a standard 1000 and a better payoff. The reveal is the product.

Wasgij is the clearest example in the category of a puzzle sold on a mechanic rather than a picture, which is why the strands matter: somebody who loves Destiny may not enjoy Mystery at all.
